Dr. Vasileios Memos received the BSc degree in Technology Management and the MSc degree in Applied Informatics (with specialization in “Computer Systems and Network Technologies”) from the School of Information Sciences of the University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki, Greece), in 2012 and 2017 respectively.
In July 2022, he received his Ph.D. degree specializing in “Novel Algorithms, Models and Architectures for Enhanced Cyber Security and Energy Efficiency in Internet of Things Environments” from the Department of Applied Informatics, School of Information Sciences, University of Macedonia, Greece (June 2018 – July 2022), where he had teaching experience for three academic years in the courses of “Unified Communications and Applications” (7th Semester), “Business Data Communications” (7th Semester), “Mobile and Pervasive Computing” (8th Semester), and “Communications Systems” (4th Semester). His doctoral Thesis focuses on “Algorithms for Energy Efficiency and Data Security in IoT Environments”. Also, during the spring semester of 2020-2021 he provided additional teaching and assistant work in the courses “Mobile and Pervasive Computing” and “Communication Systems” with a scholarship contract. From 2018 until today, he has co-supervised many students’ BSc and MSc Theses at Schools of the University of Macedonia and Hellenic Open University.
In the academic year 2024-2025, Vasileios Memos works as a Lecturer in the Department of Management Science and Technology of the Democritus University of Thrace in Kavala, where he teaches the courses “Software Engineering in Practice”, “Computer Architecture – Operating Systems”, and “Development of Reliable and Secure Software”.
In the winter semester of the academic year 2023-2024, Vasileios Memos worked as a Lecturer at the Mineral Resources Engineering Department of the Polytechnic School of the University of Western Macedonia in Kozani, where he taught the course “Introduction to Programming” (with Python language).
For the academic year 2022-2023, Vasileios Memos worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Management Science and Technology of the International Hellenic University in Kavala, where he taught the courses “Software Engineering in Practice” and “Development of Reliable and Secure Software”.
From October 2021 until today, he has been working with the University of Derby as a Lecturer in the Departments of Computer Science and Computer Networks & Security of the School of Computing at Mediterranean College in Thessaloniki. He teaches the courses “Distributed Systems”, “Software Engineering”, “Security Protocols”, Ethical Hacking”, and “Distributed Networks”. In these two years, he has supervised 13 student Theses.
Vasileios Memos also works as a computer teacher in several schools of Secondary Education, such as Gymnasiums, High Schools, and Second-Chance Schools. He has also working experience as an instructor in several post-secondary schools, such as IIEK Akmi, DIEK Pylaias-Chortiati, DIEK Neapolis, and DIEK Epanomis in Thessaloniki, where he has taught the courses “Network Administration ΙΙ”, “Interdisciplinary Work”, “Operation Systems Ι”, “Ιndustrial Informatics”, “Computer Programming”, “Communication Systems”, and “Data Communications”.
His research interests include computer networks, wireless and mobile communications, multimedia transmission over 5G networks, Cloud Computing (CC), Big Data Analytics (BDA), Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Cyber Security, cryptography, privacy and security software testing.
He has participated in writing 3 European Proposals for HORIZON 2020 and 2 Panhellenic Calls, with his Supervisor and Coordinator of these proposals, Dr. Konstantinos Psannis, and other researchers.
He already has more than 25 research papers in IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, and other Journals, with about 500 citations, while he has also reviewed about 250 research papers in these Journals. Moreover, he has participated as a presenter at International Conferences in Greece, the UK, the USA, and Japan, and as an Invited Speaker in several Scientific Lectures and Workshops, such as the Hackathon EESTech Challenge and Summer School on “Human Rights in Health” in Greece. He is also a member of the Research Group Mobility2Net Lab JAPAN-EU R&D of the Director Dr. Konstantinos Psannis.
